An attack by a swarm of Africanized bees has injured four people and closed down part of a golf course.
The incident began shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday when a person was reported suffering from multiple bee stings near the Tennis Center on Weeks Park Lane.
A city of Wichita Falls mowing crew had disturbed a beehive and one member of the crew received about 1,000 bee stings, according to a release from the city.
The bees also attacked three firefighters who arrived on the scene to help. Three of the firefighters were also taken to a hospital.
The tennis center and three holes of the Champions Course at Weeks Park will remain closed until the bees have left the area, according to the city release.
The city urges residents to stay away from the area until they can confirm the bees are gone.
