FINKSBURG, Md. — Maryland State Police are conducting a preliminary investigation into a fatal pedestrian collision that happened Friday night.
According to their findings, at about 9:40 p.m., a Toyota Rav4 was traveling in lane 1 on eastbound MD Route 140 approaching Sunset Lane. At the same time, a pedestrian, 50-year-old Dale Sattizahn of Baltimore, was walking in the roadway for unknown reasons when the driver hit him. According to scene evidence, the driver, 19-year-old Kayleigh Gladden of Westminster, tried to avoid hitting Sattizahn, but was unable to. EMS arrived to the scene and pronounced Sattizahn dead.
There was no obvious signs of impairment on Gladden's part and speed also doesn't appear to have played a factor in the incident.
TFC Rafter, a collision reconstructionist, from the MSP Westminster Barrack will be conducting the collision investigation, so anyone with information regarding the collision is urged to call the barrack. Citizens who might've witnessed the collision are also asked to call the barrack.
