Man dies after truck falls 40 feet down an embankment in Mt. Airy

MT. AIRY, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left one man dead.

According to the preliminary investigation, the crash happened on Wednesday, at around 11:30 a.m., on the northbound Route 27, north of Interstate 70, in Mount Airy. Investigators believe that a 2015 white GMC truck ran off the road and then traveled about 40 feet down a dirt embankment.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 32-year-old Jamie Lee Nottingham, of Monrovia, died at the scene. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the crash.
