BALTIMORE — For the first time in its 25-year history, the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge will be held virtually.
Organizers tried for months to schedule a live event in January at its traditional host site, Sandy Point State Park.
But a continued spike in COVID-19 cases has thwarted that effort.
So here's how it'll work this time around.
Anytime or anywhere from December 8 through January 31, you can take the virtual plunge.
As always the event will benefit the Special Olympics of Maryland.
Participating plungers are urged to submit a video, for a chance to be named Plunger of the Week and ultimately Plunger of the Year.
Winners of course will take home various prizes.
