Baltimore Police confirms 8 COVID-19 cases in the department

BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Police Department announced Sunday, that six Baltimore police officers and two civilian employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the department, another 219 employees are out on quarantine.

Baltimore Police had place 305 officers and civilians into quarantine, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of the 305 employees who’ve been quarantined, 82 officers and four civilians have already been cleared to return to work.

“I have spoken to all of the officers that have tested positive for COVID-19 and they are all recovering and are in good spirits." said Commissioner Michael harrison.

There's been changes in the department, due to the spread of the virus.

The department is leveraging and reassigning different units within the department to maintain coverage in the Southwest District, where an officer tested positive.
