BALTIMORE — The Baltimore City Fire Department has provided an update related to COVID-19 and their preventative measures.

As of Saturday, April 18, 2020, 11 BCFD members have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Department says they've had various members quarantined ranging from 1 day to 14 days throughout the pandemic. As of Saturday, two BCFD members currently are off duty on quarantine.

Along with giving their members information on how to prevent the spread of the virus, BCFD adheres to the most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

They are required to wear N95 masks, gloves, and goggles / face shields for every patient contact. They are also required to wear isolation gowns when needed. Along with this they've also issued guidelines and procedures for cleaning and disinfecting equipment, vehicles, shared work spaces, etc.
