September 3 is Healthcare Heroes Day.
It’s especially important to honor their contributions through the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Thursday morning, The Health Facilities Association of Maryland held a celebration for 20 health care workers from skilled nursing centers, rehab centers and assisted living campuses across the state.
They were nominated by their employers and chosen for their heroic performance during this crisis.
"I went back and looked at the actual numbers of care provided in nursing homes in Maryland in the last 6 months and its 1.8 million days of care that these care providers have provided to Marylanders in need during a worldwide pandemic. They are amazing, they are absolutely amazing. Words are inadequate."
The small socially distanced event was held at the hotel at Arundel Preserve in Hanover.
The health care workers were all presented with awards during the ceremony.
