WMAR STAFF — In an effort to spread from happiness while we're social distancing people in South Baltimore are getting a little creative.

They're writing encouraging words and creating fun pictures for the Chalk it Up South Baltimore! Sidewalk chalk challenge.

Steve Cole said he saw some people already creating artwork when he took walks throughout the neighborhood and decided to post it on online, challenging other people in the community to do the same.

"A lot of them are inspirational phrases. I see often 'every little thing is going to be all right,' you know Bob Marley. Some artwork, you know beat the COVID. Ones that are out here are amazing, butterflies, cartoon characters. It's amazing."

Cole said this idea was inspired by the Enoch Pratt Library's Chalk Your Walk event that started Friday.
