TOWSON, Md. — Blood banks are currently running low on donations.
GBMC is rolling up their sleeves to address the blood shortage crisis during this pandemic.
On Wednesday, they held their first employee-only blood drive for the year.
GBMC has received an incredible outpouring of support from the public and this blood drive is their way of giving back to the community.
"During the pandemic the community has brought us food and drinks and has been there to support us every single day and we think this is a small way for healthcare heroes themselves to give back."
According to the American Red Cross, approximately 19,000 blood drives, equating to 540,000 units of blood, were canceled across the country this year.
