POOLESVILLE, Md. — COVID-19 did not stop a Montgomery County girl's birthday celebration.
Piper Franklin's 7th birthday will be day she'll never forget.
Her party was canceled due to a statewide ban on large gatherings to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Instead, Piper's party guests made signs, decorated, cars and threw her a birthday parade.
"They all just lined it up down the street and made posters and had balloons, it was really touching and really nice. We have some amazing friends and we live in Poolesville, and it's an amazing town, so it was something special," said Amanda Hunt Franklin, Piper's mom.
"It was exciting," added Piper.
Franklin said they sanitized all the candy and made sure to wash their hands.
She thinks birthday parades will be a new trend, and they already have another parade planned for tomorrow where they'll surprise a local boy on his birthday.
