BALTIMORE — The State of Maryland issues new guidelines that will allow barbershops and hair salons to reopen for first responders, military personnel and other essential workers.

According to these guidelines, there will be no walk-ins; only one customer will be allowed in the store at a time; customers will have to provide some form of written documentation, either a letter from their employer or a copy of a company policy, stating that the services are necessary to meet grooming standards; and both the customer and the staff member must wear face coverings.

In addition to cleaning and disinfecting after serving each customer, stores will also have to keep information on file for each customer just in case a staff member ends up testing positive for COVID-19.
