ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Winter weather across the country has severely impacted shipments of COVID-19 vaccines to Maryland.
Moderna vaccines were not shipped on Monday or Tuesday and aren't expected to ship today either.
The state is working with its shipping partners to resume operations as soon as weather allows.
It's anticipated though that the weather will cause a significant back log of orders.
A number of Moderna shipments were also pulled back last week due to weather.
Only a small amount ended up being repacked and sent out Sunday.
As for Pfizer, they were unable to ship on Monday. A limited number were processed Tuesday, with a similar plan in place for Thursday.
The state has made providers aware of the potential impact these delays could have on vaccination clinics and previously scheduled appointments.
