COLLEGE PARK, Md. — A 16 year old was shot while riding in a car on I-495 South in Prince George’s County Monday night, Maryland State Police said.
Police learned of the shooting when a walk-in shooting victim was reported at 6:45 p.m. at University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center. Police said at about 6 p.m. an SUV with three occupants entered the Capital Beltway (I-495) South from Route 450, when they noticed a gold car following them. The car got behind the SUV and began shooting.
A 16-year-old male passenger in the SUV was shot in the leg, police said. He was driven to the hospital for treatment. No one else was injured.
Police believe the shooting was not random. An investigation is ongoing.
