GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a woman midday Sunday in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Officers responded to a reported sexual offense that happened in the 7400 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, police said. A woman said she had been walking along the street, near Crain Highway, at about 11:15 a.m. when a man approached and began speaking with her.

“The male talked her into walking to a more secluded area, where he removed her clothing and performed a sex act on her, against her will,” police said in a statement. The woman was able to push the man away and escape the area on foot.

The Anne Arundel County Police Sex Offense Unit began an investigation, and police personnel canvassed the area on foot searching for the suspect. Detectives also looked for surveillance systems that may have captured footage of the crime.

Later that day, a person matching the suspect's description was located inside a business in the same block where the assault was originally reported, police said. Based on interviews and physical evidence recovered at the crime scene, police identified Kevin Arnold France Jr., of no fixed address, as their suspect. France was charged with second-degree rape, forth-degree sex offense, and second-degree assault. He is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on a no bond status.
