SEVERN, Md. — A 49-year-old man from Severn has been arrested and charged after officials say he sexually abused a young child.
On Wednesday Anne Arundel County Police were called to a Severn house around 3:15 a.m. for a child abuse investigation. The mother told officers her young child was sexually assaulted by a man on Tuesday night at another Severn house.
The suspect was identified as Christopher Richardson Sr, a 49-year-old man who lives in Baltimore.
The Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit investigated the claims and ended up arresting Richardson in Cockeysville and charging him with Attempted First and Second Degree Rape along with other associated crimes. Richardson was arrested 19 hours after the mother reported the abuse to police.
Investigators say this is not a random act of violence and are holding Richardson on a no bond status at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.
As the investigation continues, the Anne Arundel County Police is urging any other victims or anyone with information on this incident, or the suspect, to contact the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733.
