An Anne Arundel County police officer was nearly hit during a traffic stop near Linthicum Heights.
The officer pulled over a Volkswagen Jetta driven by 38-year-old Lawrence Jacobs on I-695 near I-97 around 10:38 a.m. Friday. During the stop, the police say Jacobs sped off in the Jetta, nearly hitting the officer and the officer's vehicle.
The officer followed Jacobs to Washington Blvd. and I-695. At that point, the Jacobs jumped out and started running. After a short chase, police tased the him and took him into custody.
Police say there were no injuries, but as part of the department's taser protocols, Jacobs was taken to the hospital.
