Almost a year after a man found his adult daughter dead in the basement of her Severn home, Anne Arundel County Police arrested and charged a 39-year-old Glen Burnie man in her murder.

On Aug. 15, 2018, police responded to the 1800 block of Hawk Court at about 11:24 a.m., where 29-year-old Jasmine Sherel Adams was found dead in her basement by her father. Homicide detectives responded, noting that it appeared Adams suffered trauma to her body that would indicate she was murdered. An autopsy the next day determined her death a homicide due to sharp force injuries to her upper body.

Anne Arundel County Police Timothy Altomare said DNA evidence left at the scene focused investigators on a suspect, Dominic Richard Sanchez, of the 7900 block of Summer Rain Court in Glen Burnie. Warrants were eventually obtained to search Sanchez’s home and electronic devices.

Sanchez was eventually arrested while he was incarcerated on a different charge, police said. In Adams’ murder, Sanchez was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.

Police urge anyone who many have additional information about the murder to call the Homicide Unit at 410-222-4731, use the county’s tip line at 410-222-4700, or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
