On Tuesday the 19th gun in 2018 was caught at BWI Airport.
A man was stopped by TSA agents after they found a .38 caliber handgun and a magazine loaded with five bullets at one of the airport's checkpoints. The man said he did not know his gun was in his carry-on bag, but TSA still confiscated the gun and ammunition.
While 19 may seem like a lot, the airport is seeing progress compared to 2017. Officials say this time last year 26 guns had been found.
Officials also say this summer has been one of the busiest in TSA's history.
