Driver parked on curb and sleeping found with $6.9K of weed, $10K in cash

BROOKLYN PARK, Md. — A man found by police sleeping in his car while parked on the curb was arrested with thousands of dollars worth of drugs and cash early Tuesday morning.

Anne Arundel County Police say around 4 a.m. an officer patrolling Chatham Road and 11th Avenue in Brooklyn Park saw the Acura parked on the curb with the driver asleep at the wheel.

When the officer approached the car, they reported they smelled marijuana and they saw contraband in plain view in the car.

The officer searched the car and found the following items:

  • 345.16 g. suspected marijuana (street value $6903.20)
  • 43 prescription Cyclobenzaprine HCL pills
  • Acetaminophen-Oxycodone Hydrochloride (street value $60)
  • $10,032 in cash
  • Smith & Wesson 38 Special handgun (stolen/loaded)
  • CDS paraphernalia

The driver, 22-year-old Corey David Martin, was arrested and charged with CDS and handgun related charges.
