LAUREL, Md. — Shots were fired during a car theft on a Laurel street on Wednesday evening, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired and a stolen automobile in the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road, at about 7:30 p.m., police said. No one was injured, despite the shooting.

At the scene, a 31-year-old man said he left his gray 2005 Mitsubishi Galant running in the parking lot of the Garden Inn. He said four juvenile suspects, two boys and two girls, all believed to be between the ages of 15 and 17, approached the car. One member of the group got into the car and drove west on Laurel Fort Meade Road.

The three remaining suspects got into an altercation with someone in a red vehicle that was nearby. One of the suspects fired several rounds from a gun at the red car, which subsequently fled the scene.

One of the discharged rounds struck a Toyota Forerunner that had been heading west on Laurel Fort Meade Road, police said. Officers could not find the stolen car, the red vehicle involved in the incident, or any of the suspects.
