GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A Glen Burnie man was denied bail Thursday after police say he shot a teenager Tuesday night.
Shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a 911 call from a Roy Birk of the 300 block of Columbus Road in Glen Burnie for kids tampering with his car.
"While our officers were actually in route there we actually got a call from an area hospital saying 'Hey, we just had a gun shot victim walk in'," said Anne Arundel County police.
He was saying he was shot on Columbus Drive.
Police interviewed Birk and the person shot to sort out the story, and Birk told police he heard a loud noise, like a 'baseball bat' against his car.
"He shot one round inside his house outside and that round struck our 15 year old victim," police said.
There was a rental car that police say belonged to Birk, parked in front of his house Thursday that had 3 flat tires.
"We've been out to this house and this street multiple time for juvenile problems, disorderly, tampering with, damaging to autos, that kind of juvenile problems unfortunately are common on that street," police said.
Police said Birk told them kids had damaged his car two nights before and that Birk's gun was registered and he was legally allowed to posses the hand gun.
The teen injured in the shooting is expected to survive his injuries.
