ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A 46-year-old inmate In Anne Arundel County serving time for rape, sent sexually explicit, harassing emails to a 15-year-old, the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office said in announcing the man’s conviction Monday.
Arthur Antonio Wiggins was found guilty of sex abuse of a minor, a statement from the state’s attorney’s office read. Wiggins committed his abuse while serving a 28-year sentence at the Maryland Correctional Institute for the 1988 rape and murder of an 18-year-old woman in Baltimore.
Wiggins sent letters to his 15-year-old victim that included pornographic images and handwritten statements describing sexual acts he intended to perform on her, the state’s attorney’s office said. The letters were sent between Dec. 5, 2014 and August 15, 2015.
Wiggins will be sentenced April 17, 2019.
“Fending off the sexual advances of an adult is something no child should be forced to endure,” Leitess said in a statement. “This young woman displayed immense bravery in choosing to report these crimes. I encourage any victims of sexual abuse to place their trust in law enforcement and allow us to fight for justice of their behalf.”
