ODENTON, Md. — A man was carjacked early Friday while filling up at a Odenton gas station, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Officers responded to the Exxon station at 1318 Annapolis Road for a reported carjacking at 4:30 a.m. The victim said he was putting gas into his blue Hyundai Elantra with Maryland plates when an unknown suspect approached him with a weapon and demanded his keys, police said. The victim turned over the keys and the carjacker fled the scene in the Hyundai.

"If someone is displaying a weapon and demanding property, you want to hand over your property and call the police immediately," said Mark Lamanski of the Anne Arundel County Police. "You don't want to put yourself in any further danger."

Anyone with information about the carjacking, the car, or the suspect should contact police at 410-222-6155 or use the county TipLine at 410-222-4700.
