ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Annapolis Police were called Sunday night to Bay Ridge and Edgewood Road for a crash and when officers arrived, there were no cars present.
A witness on the scene thought one of the drivers may have been drinking and gave a description of the car. Police pulled that car over shortly after in the area of Hilltop and Youngs Farm Road.
Police say Dennis Basil's car came to a full stop and then proceeded to back up into the front of a police car twice.
"The vehicle pulled forward and into some landscaping and a sign for a community right there at Youngs Farm and Hilltop Road," said Annapolis Police Sgt. Amy Miguez. "At that point the vehicle became stationary, the officers made contact with the driver and he certainly, like I said show signs of impairment and he was arrested and charged."
According to court records, this was not the first drunk driving charge for Basil. He was charged with a DWI in March 2015.
