Man pleads guilty to killing girlfriend in front of her daughter

A Glen Burnie man pleads guilty to stabbing his girlfriend to death in 2016 in front of the victim's daughter.

Michael Wilson was Charlotta Barkley's on-and-off again boyfriend. The two were at their Glen Burnie apartment when they got into an argument on May 7, 2016. Barkley called police and decided to leave with her daughter.

Wilson followed them to the car and when he heard the police sirens, he attacked Barkley with a knife, according to Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams. Barkely's daughter tried intervene and was stabbed in the hand. Wilson is accused of stabbing Barkley several times before running from the area.

Barkley and her daughter got into the car and drove to the hospital, where Barkley would die from her injuries just before 2:15 a.m. the next day. Her daughter was treated for her hand injury.

State prosecutors are seeking life without the possibility of parole. Wilson is expected to be sentenced Feb. 1.
