A Naval Academy midshipman was sentenced for distributing illegal drugs.
Zachary Williams pleaded guilty at a general court-martial Thursday. William’s was sentenced to 13 months confinement and dismissed from the Navy.
The charges were based on an investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service that began last November. Selling and possessing controlled substances at a music festival in Delaware were connected to his arrest.
Aa a result of the investigation, six midshipmen were expelled from the academy for using illegal substances and five were disciplined for other violations.
