Police identify shooting victim in Glen Burnie

Update: Police are still trying to determine what brought the victim to the Southgate Apartment complex, which is nine miles from his home.

Court records suggest in recent months the victim had faced multiple assault, drug and gun charges.

Police have not yet revealed whether Kumar was armed at the time he was shot or whether any drugs were found in the Mercedes SUV he was driving at the time of the shooting.

A person is dead after being shot in an apartment complex in Glen Burnie and police are searching for the person or persons responsible.

Just prior to 4 p.m., Anne Arundel County Fire officials say they responded to the 300 block of Highland Drive, and found the victim dead. The victim was later identified as 19-year-old Prateek Kumar of Crownsville, Maryland. 

The apartment complex where the body was found sits behind the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
