Police: Maryland teen shot after stabbing ex's girlfriend

A 17-year-old Maryland girl who police say stabbed her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend and then was shot has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Anne Arundel police spokesman Marc Limansky says 20-year-old John Sebastian Lopez and his 25-year-old girlfriend went to the teenager's house Monday with the intention of starting fight.

The teen told police Lopez's girlfriend attacked her when she came outside.

The teen said she sprayed the woman with mace and then stabbed her in the back when the fight continued.

Police say Lopez then shot the teen in the thigh.

The girlfriend denied attacking the teen.

The teen was charged as an adult for multiple offenses.

Lopez has also been charged with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses.

No attorneys were listed as of Tuesday.
