ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Annapolis police recovered a stolen car with the help of some local residents Sunday.
A 2018 Volkswagen Atlas was reported stolen from the unit block of Harness Creek View Court Friday, police said, believing the vehicle may have been left unlocked with a key inside. Sunday, an officer driving on Forest Drive spotted the car at about 10 p.m. The officer attempted to stop the car, but it fled, sideswiping an empty parked car.
The officer abandoned the pursuit, but area residents provided information that the Volkswagen fled down Cobblestone Drive. Officers found the abandoned vehicle on Sandstone Court, off of Cobblestone Drive, police said. The driver was not found. Police returned the Volkswagen to its owner.
