A woman had her purse nearly swiped and a teenager was robbed at gun point in separate incidents in Crofton Friday, Anne Arundel County Police.
A woman leaving a business in the 2500 block of Conway Road around 6 p.m. said a man approached her from behind and grabbed her purse, police said. The two struggled over the purse and was able to keep hold of it. She sustained minor injuries. The suspect fled the seen.
About three hours later, police responded to the 2300 block of Brandermill Boulevard for a robbery. There, a teenager said he was leaving a business when a man approached him with a gun and demanded the teen’s cell phone. The teen complied and the robber fled. He was found possessing a replica handgun a short time later.
Michael Hunter, of the 12300 block of Tilbury Lane in Bowie, was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, armed robbery, reckless endangerment, use of a handgun in the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and theft under $1,500, police said. Hunter is 17, but he was charged as an adult.
Police do not believe the two robberies are related.
