An 18-year-old was arrested after police found a stolen handgun on him in Annapolis.

Police say they received a call about a man displaying a handgun and another man indicating he might also be armed on Clay Street.

The officers responded to the area and found the two men the person had called about. They found a loaded handgun in the waistband of the man seen displaying a gun earlier. That handgun was reported stolen from Washington County.

The suspect, 18-year-old Deonta Smith, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen handgun, theft of the handgun, illegally carrying the handgun on his person and possession of the handgun while under 21 years of age.

The other man with Smith, Jontal Coates, 28, threw a loaded handgun into the bushed when officers approached him. He was charged with possessing a handgun and ammunition after conviction of a qualifying crime and carrying a concealed handgun.

Both are being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
