Someone threatens to shoot up a school, then says it was a prank. Now Anne Arundel County police have arrested a student.
Investigators say a 9th grader called in a threat against Broadneck High School Monday night. Police deemed the threat was not credible, and the school opened on time Tuesday with extra officers patrolling.
Hours later police identified and arrested a student for making the threat. Broadneck High Principal James Todd sent a letter home to parents about the situation, saying the student arrested claimed the call was a joke. "These types of incidents are simply no laughing matter. In addition to charges forthcoming from police, we have taken appropriate disciplinary action with regard to the student involved," Todd wrote.
The student is being charged as a juvenile with threatening mass violence and disturbing school activities.
