LAUREL, Md. (WMAR) — A woman was robbed at knife point in Laurel Sunday after meeting someone from online, who was supposed to sell her a phone.
Anne Arundel County Police were dispatched around 12:40 p.m. to the 8300 block of Cloud Street.
The victim told police when she got to the location to meet the seller, two men approached and gave her a box that was supposed to have the phone in it.
After opening the box, the victim noticed it was filled with aluminum foil but no phone.
When she looked away from the box and back up at the suspects, they were holding a knife and demanded her property.
The victim gave up her belongings at which time the suspects fled. She was not injured.
Just last month a man was robbed at gunpoint in Glen Burnie, while meeting someone from online, thought to be interested in buying a vehicle.
Anne Arundel County Police say anyone with plans to meet someone to make purchases or transactions can do so at the police station.
"You can meet at any police station, come inside and do any type of transactions there. it’s a safe place, it’s a well-documented place as well publicized place and we can keep you safe in those kind of incidences," said Sergeant Jacklynn Davis.
