18 month old killed in West Forest Park

Posted

Baltimore Police confirmed an 18-month-old child's death in the West Forest Park neighborhood has been ruled a homicide.

Chief Media Relations Officer T.J. Smith mentioned the child's death at a press conference earlier in the day, discussing it as a homicide.

Police responded to the 2800 block of Forest Glen Road at 10:40 p.m. on July 18 for the report of an unresponsive child. When they arrived, they found 18-month-old Zaray Gray unresponsive.

Medics transported the baby to a local hospital where he died.

Upon investigation, police say the baby was left in the care of his mother's boyfriend. When the mother returned home, Gray was unresponsive. Hospital staff told investigators that the baby sustained injuries that were visible and further x-rays showed a broken bone.

Investigators are currently asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 410-396-2100 or contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

Gray is the third child under 8 years old to be killed in Baltimore this year. A mother was charged in the death of her 2 month old in May, and 7-year-old Taylor Hayes died Thursday after being shot while sitting in a car in Edmondson Village. Police are asking for public assistance in that murder investigation as well
