1 dead, 3 hurt in 2 shootings as Ceasefire weekend winds down

Before the ceasefire officially ended on its one-year anniversary weekend, one person was killed and three others were injured in less than two hours across the city.

Just after 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, officers in the Eastern District responded to the 900 block of North Broadway for a shooting. Upon their arrival, police found two people shot, a male with a gunshot to the leg and another victim with wounds to the torso. A short time later, a third victim walked into an area hospital with a gunshot to the foot.

Less than two hours later, officers across the city in the Southwest District were patrolling in the area of Catherine and Wilkens Avenue when they heard gunfire. A 27-year-old man was then located suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
