A 31-year-old man died at Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center after being arrested on a trespassing charge, the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said.
The department said the man, David Ott, was found unresponsive in his cell at about 11 p.m. on Nov. 7 Paramedics arrived and attempted to revive him, but Ott was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m.
Police took Ott to the booking center but then brought him to the hospital after he complained about a medical condition, the statement from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said. Ott was then brought back to Central Booking after gaining medical clearance.
No negligence was found by booking center staff, according to a preliminary investigation by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigation Division.
