MILLERSVILLE, Md. — A 53-year-old suspect was arrested for the murdering his 22-year-old neighbor in their Glen Burnie apartment building Monday morning, Anne Arundel County Police said.

James Allan Verombeck, of the 100 block of Virginia Lane was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, firearm used in a felony, reckless endangerment, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault for murdering 22-year-old Tyrique Hudson, who lived in the same apartment building, but a different unit, as his assailant.

Police received a call of shots fired at 170 Virginia Lane at about 7:10 a.m. Arriving officers found Hudson, who had died from apparent gunshot wounds. Hudson was inside the apartment building, but in one of the building’s public areas.

Witnesses to the slaying said Verombeck and Hudson had an “on-going issue,” police said, but they did not know what it was about. Witnesses said they saw Verombeck standing over Hudson’s body and that Verombeck may have barricaded himself in the building following the shooting.

Members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Quick Response Team were able to take Verombeck into custody at about 5 p.m. Monday. Detectives then assumed control of the scene to begin their investigation.

That investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident should contact the county’s Homicide Unit at 410-222-4731 or the county TipLine at 410-222-4700.
