A robbery and assault in west Baltimore ends with a car accident and victim shot

A passenger was shot and involved in a car crash after the driver was assaulted and robbed , according City Police.

Around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 100 block of W. Mulberry Street for a car crash. They found a car that struck a wall at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle told officers she was standing in the 1100 block of west Lafayette Avenue when an unknown man robbed and assaulted her. 

The victim fled fled to her car and drove away. The suspect began shooting at the victim's car, striking the female passenger in the car.

The victim crashed her car attempting to drive to the hospital. The driver suffered minor injuries during the assault and the passenger, 24 years old, suffered a gunshot wound to her upper body. 

Both victims were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
