A Baltimore man has been charged in a Wednesday shooting involving a school police officer.
Keith Lanard Barney, 22, of the 1000 block of Braddish Avenue, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault and related charges.
The shooting happened in the 4200 block of Frederick Avenue and South Augusta Avenue in southwest Baltimore within two blocks of city schools. A preliminary investigation showed the shooting wasn't school-related.
Baltimore City Police said the school officer witnessed Barney shooting at someone else from a car and fired at the suspect, who then crashed his car.
