BALTIMORE — A jury returned a guilty verdict for Antwon Johnson for the second-degree murder of Anthony Levar Joyner in December 2013.
The jury found him guilty of using a firearm in a crime of violence and for possessing a regulated firearm as a prohibited person due to a prior attempted distribution conviction.
Baltimore Police responded to the Douglass Homes for a report of a shooting where they found Joyner suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. They then transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased on his 34th birthday.
Following an investigation, it was revealed the victim was visiting a friend when the defendant approached Joyner, opened fire on the victim and then Johnson approached the victim and shot him several more times before fleeing the scene..
Johnson now faces 55 years in prison.
