A 19-year-old faces almost 100 years in prison for robbing an elderly woman and waiting for a cab ride home from her bedside.

According to the State's Attorney's Office, 19-year-old Orery Smith broke into the woman's home through the kitchen window screen. They say Smith was armed with a gun when he went into the woman's bedroom demanding money, holding a pillow to her head and threatening to kill her. The teen then used duct tape to bind the women's feet.

Smith stole $6 and an ATM card and proceeded to sit on the edge of the woman's bed while he waited for his taxi that arrived 30 minutes later.

Officials say surveillance video caught Smith as he was picked up by a cab outside of a liquor store. The surveillance video, DNA found on the duct tape, along with the victim being able to identify Smith through a photographic array led officials to deem Smith as a suspect.

“The torture and mental anguish that this victim had to endure in her home for $6 is disgusting,” said State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby.

Smith faces 98 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced February 8, 2018.
