BALTIMORE — A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a man during a dice game.
According to the State's Attorney's Office, a group of people were playing dice in the 1700 block of Rutland Avenue when and argument started between Derek Black and the victim, Greg Manual Jr. They say the other individuals stepped in to try and break up the argument and Manual hit Black with a small stick. Although there was no injury, Black went to his car and grabbed a gun and shot Manuel five times.
Officials say Manuel's mother along with several others witnessed him get shot in the ribs, lungs, and heart.
Black was sentenced to life with all 45 years suspended for the first-degree murder of Manuel. He was also sentenced to a concurrent 20 years with the first five years without the possibility of parole for using a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence.
