Man dead after gunshot to head, chest in East Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. — Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man in East Baltimore.

Patrol officers were called to the scene of the 1700 block of Cliftview Avenue for a reported shooting, police said.

At the scene, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and head.

The man was sent to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police later identified the victim as 37-year-old Larry Matthews, revising the shooting location to the 1600 block of Cliftview Avenue as well.
