BALTIMORE — A man has been sentenced to life plus three years for the murder of his wife Ankita Verma in January 2019.
According to officials, on January 11, Amit Kumar stabbed his wife 55 times in the bedroom of their apartment in the 6700 block of Holabird Avenue.
The crime scene indicated several signs that a struggle ensued inside of the apartment. The bedroom door was broken off its hinges and a significant amount of the victim’s blood was found on both sides of the bedroom door, on the legs of a stool and on the handle of a suitcase.

Kumar’s intent was to ultimately hideout in Canada but he turned himself into the Syracuse police station in New York after seeing his wanted poster on television.
