Officials say a pedestrian was struck and killed following a hit and run

BALTIMORE, Md. — Baltimore Police are investigating a fatal hit and run accident that involved a pedestrian.

On Tuesday, at about 1 a.m., Crash Team Detectives were called to the 400 block of South Monroe Street for a report of a fatal pedestrian hit and run.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, an unidentified adult male, was first struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. The victim was then struck a second time by a 2018 Nissan. The driver, who remained on the scene, stated that she tried to avoid hitting the pedestrian, who had been laying in the street, but was unable to do so because of traffic.

Medics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
