Baltimore surpasses 200 murders following separate shootings Thursday night

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police are investigating two separate deadly shootings in West Baltimore Thursday night.

Police say the first shooting took place in the 2200 block of Ruskin Avenue just before 8:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a 26-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and pronounced dead by medical personnel.

About two hours later, at approximately 10:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Etting Street for another shooting.

Upon arrival, they found 31-year-old Yohannes Carr suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The city has now recorded 201 murders in 2020.
