BALTIMORE — A Baltimore Police officer fired his gun Wednesday evening when he observed a suspect shooting at someone inside a car.

It happened just before 8 p.m. near the 800 block of N. Fremont Avenue in the city's Western District.

Police had taped off a large crime scene spanning from N. Fremont to N. Arlington and W. Harlem to Mosher in search of the armed suspect, but so far no arrests have been reported.

At this point police don't think anyone was injured or struck by gunfire.

But according to WMAR-2 News' Erin MacPherson, police located a Honda that appeared to have been shot up badly, about a mile away in the 200 block of Wilson Street. Police would not confirm that the car found was the one shot at during the incident.

The department's Special Incident Response Team is investigating.
