BALTIMORE — Day 15 is over. The jury has been dismissed after a long and difficult day of deliberations.
They told the judge they couldn’t come to a unanimous verdict on eight charges and believe that further deliberations will not help.
The judge said she’s not ready to give up yet and sent them back into deliberations where they have been since day one.
Later, jurors asked more questions having to do with accomplice liability.
In the courtroom, all day and all week, have been Sebastian Dvorak’s parents, who are hoping to get some justice for their son.
It's been an emotional three weeks for the Dvoark family sitting through the trial for the man accused of murdering their son two years ago.
The two-year anniversary of Sebastian’s death and what would have been his 29th birthday, fell in the middle of it all.
"Sebass," as his friends called him, was robbed and shot on Boston Street in Canton while coming home from a night out celebrating his 27th birthday.
Surveillance video shows his final moments, when his path collided with a 16-year-old looking to rob someone.
Malik Mungo, now 19, is the alleged gunman. According to testimony from a fellow 500-l gang member, Mungo stepped out of his role peddling marijuana on the streets for a subset of the bloods in search of some easy money with a gun in hand.
Gang members claim Mungo said he shot Sebastian when he failed to comply with his robbery demands.
Mungo faces 19 charges related to first degree murder, drugs, gang activity, gun possession and robbery.
His defense says he wasn’t involved in the robbery or Dvorak’s murder.
The jury will return Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. for continued deliberations.
