WOODLAWN, Md. — When someone knocked at the door at a home on Baltimore Street in Woodlawn this morning, the face of the man standing outside was obscured by an umbrella he was holding.
An adult female opened the door, unknowingly subjecting herself and her family members to home invasion robbers.
"One of the suspects was armed and came inside the house. We were able to determine there was a second suspect that was involved," said Cpl. Shawn Vinson of the Baltimore County Police Department. "They tied up the victim, another female inside the house and also a child that was inside."
While he shied away from our cameras, the homeowner says the two men used duct tape to restrain him, his brother's girlfriend and his 10-year-old niece.
One of the men brandished a gun and threatened them before making off with a safe, some cash and tennis shoes.
Ultimately, the adult male victim was able to break free of the restraints and to call police.
"What we're pretty certain of at this point is that we do believe these victims were targeted. For what reason, we don't know,” said Vinson, “We're continuing to try to determine what led up to this and why this happened."
If you have any information that could help solve this case, you're asked to call the police.
