TOWSON, Md. — Baltimore County Police identified a 35-year-old man who was arrested after shooting at police during a foot pursuit in Overlea Thursday.
Anthony Lance Coley, of the 4700 block of Mawani Road, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and several firearm-related charges for his role in the shooting.
The incident began around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, when a Baltimore County Officer was in the area of Springwood Road and Marglenn Road when he saw a man, later determined to be Coley, holding a handgun and walking down the middle of Marglenn Road, police said. The officer exited his vehicle and ordered Coley to show his hands.
Police said Coley ignored the order and took off running, eventually turning off of Marglenn Road and onto Raspe Avenue, where Coley fired his gun at the pursuing officer. The officer was not struck by gunfire, and he did not fire his service weapon during the incident.
Police later found Coley on Old Home Road and arrested him without incident. Two handguns were recovered from the 400-block of Old Home Road.
Coley remains at the Baltimore County Department of Corrections on denied bail status.
